# Buying jasmine tea: start with the leaf, not the tin

Three details to check before comparing two beautiful tea listings.

RARA · October 13, 2026 · 2 min read

Ask: which leaf, which process, how much tea?

## The missing word on the front

Jasmine names an aroma, but it does not tell you everything about the tea beneath it. When browsing, look for the base tea, the producer’s account of how it was scented, and the amount in the selected pack. Those details make two listings meaningfully comparable. A photograph of a handsome tin answers none of them.

## A real listing to inspect

RARA’s Silver Tip Jasmine Tea entry links to Rare Tea Company’s product page. Treat the source as the place to confirm the leaf description, scenting process, pack size and brewing guidance. The amount shown in RARA is an estimate attached to a recorded listing, not a promise about today’s checkout. If the source offers several sizes, make sure the price and weight belong to the same selection.

## Make one useful comparison

Write a small note with four fields: tea name, net weight, selected price and source URL. Then compare price per gram only when both prices use the same currency and both weights describe tea rather than packaging. Keep shipping separate. If one listing omits its weight, leave that comparison unfinished instead of treating a lower sticker price as better value. The best next action is a precise question to the seller, not another search for a more persuasive photograph.
